Laser eye surgery, or its various methods such as “LASIK,” “PRK,” or “Intralase” have become a topic of much debate. For every proponent of the procedure, there are others with rampant on-line campaigns to dissuade, frighten people, or even outlaw laser surgery.  It can be a bit baffling deciding between the different kinds of refractive surgery, and naturally the LASIK consultant will want to sell you the most expensive treatments (they are a business, after all). However, when talking about something as important as your eyes, I really believe you should opt for the best LASIK technique available in Morristown, New Jersey.  Laser corrective eye surgery has a few different methods; LASIK, LASEK, PRK and Intralase are amongst the most common.  These mainly define the way they operate on the eye.  The next step is choosing how your vision will be treated.  I chose a “custom wavefort,” which corrects the eye at three different points, rather than just blanket-treating the eye as one prescription. LASIK’s most common technique works by using a small blade to cut a round disc of the front of the eye away, treating the cornea, and replacing the flap to heal.  If using a blade on your eye doesn’t sound too appealing, choose the newer bladeless method by “Intralase.” Intralase is done entirely with lasers, which alleviates using a blade, resulting in a much thinner and accurate incision that heals faster and is less severe on the eye.

The important thing is to remember the decision to have LASIK is up to you, so hunt out the facts amongst the scare stories and rare horror cases you will hear about.  The fact is, LASIK is a very safe procedure these days with millions of LASIK success stories, and you can further improve your chances by choosing a reputable Morristown LASIK surgeon, technique, and company with a good reputation. Never believe the “LASIK for $300!” advertisements you read in Morristown, New Jersey.  If you care about your eyes, and want the best results, custom waveforts and Intralase are more expensive.  Compared to the cost of a lifetime of glasses and frames, it works out cheaper in the long-run. The majority  of people have zero problems during or after LASIK surgery. LASIK Clinics.

iLASIK Eye Surgery in Houston Texas

iLASIK specifically refers to using the IntraLase laser to create the corneal flap combined with the Advanced CustomVue Wavefront-Guided VISX excimer laser technology to reshape the underlying cornea. This combination of two advanced technologies in iLASIK has produced some of the best results we’ve ever seen in laser vision correction.

In certain patients, the Intralase may provide an even more precise result with better vision and an increased margin of safety. Dry eye symptoms after surgery may be less significant with the Intralase as well. In a research study of patients treated with one eye using Traditional LASIK, and the other eye using Intralase LASIK (iLasik), patients stating a preference preferred the vision in their Intralase eye 3 to 1 over the Traditional LASIK eye.

Technological advances used in the iLASIK procedure convinced NASA that iLASIK was good enough for our astronauts. The visual demands placed upon astronauts are intense, and the stakes are high.

The US military now runs several facilities utilizing iLASIK to meet the intense visual demands of its mission critical pilots and aviators flying multi-million dollar fighter jets.

At the Eye Center of Texas we believe it is critical for us to have this same advanced iLASIK technology for our patients. Even your most extreme lifestyle is nothing compared to being ejected from an F-22 Raptor or landing on a aircraft carrier at night, but you deserve the same level of quality vision.

It is the most commonly performed operation in medicine, and the safest. No operation is 100% safe but LASIK comes close. For example, a soft contact lens wearer is far more likely to get an eye infection than a patient having LASIK surgery. LASIK takes only 15 minutes. Patients rarely even need pain medication afterwards and most go about their normal routine the next day.

LASIK in Houston, Texas is currently one of the most frequently performed elective procedures in North America. It is a highly effective outpatient procedure that is suitable for most low, moderate and higher prescriptions. LASIK uses a cool beam of light from the excimer laser to gently reshape the front surface (cornea) of your eye.
